The Beaches

Hidden and sometimes hard to find, large and majestic, the beaches of the Costa Blanca are without doubt among the best beaches in Spain.

There are hundreds of kilometres of Mediterranean coastline to enjoy unforgettable holidays. Safe swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving, fishing, sailing and a wealth of other water sports can be enjoyed here. Nearly all beaches have food and drink facilities and toilets. The Red Cross is present during the summer months.

Comunidad Valenciana offers a complete beach guide with information on all beaches, listings of beaches with Blue flag, accessible beaches, as well as pictures and webcams on their website. Accessible areas offer ramps and walkways to the shore as well as special facilities in restaurants and WC/Shower areas. Amongst these are El Mojon (San Pedro del Pinatar), Percheles (Mazarron) and El Estacia (La Manga del Mar Menor). 

Guardamar del Segura has 7kms of fabulous beaches with bars and restaurants along the promenade, sand dunes and a pine forest. Sun loungers and umbrellas can be hired for a relaxing day at the sea. Guardamar also has a pretty and lively town centre offering shopping and a meandering street market on Wednesdays. The town park has a large lake and wildlife including turtles, ducks and peacocks as well as a children’s playground. La Marina, just 5kms north of Guardamar, is a local beauty spot, where pine trees meet sand dunes and offer a perfect picnic spot. La Mata, just south of Guardamar, has lovely sandy beaches with all facilities. Further south, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Campomoar all offer sandy beaches, restaurants and bars and parking facilities, but can fill up quickly in high season. The Mar Menor, cut off from the Mediterranean by a thin strip of land that is home to La Manga golf club, is renowned for health promoting properties and offers a very safe environment for children. La Manga, is the number one choice for a day spoiling yourself in luxurious spas, famous for their health treatments.
